After spending Easter at my parent’s house in the country, I have realised how much I rely upon the internet and social media. My brother, along with his partner and their two year old, were staying in the room with the computer. Being just my parents at home, they have no need for wireless. Hence in order to use the computer, you must have access to this room. I did not have access. Just four days without internet access and was on edge! I guess this is a long winded way of explaining why my blogging has been suffering.
Back to Melbourne, and back into the swing of things, I stumbled upon this article – Putting Twitter’s World to Use – via Twitter. Some interesting points to take out of it are that for Twitter to be more effective it still needs to grow it user base significantly as well as make some form of profit in order to continue. One way being considered is charging companies who use the site to communicate with their customer bases. Twitter are also planning on creating a ‘search’ function in which people can type key words to find what it is they are interested in. This helps individual’s with specific interests, as well as helping companies to reach their target audiences.
I think I’veĀ been delving too much into Twitter and Web2.0, and need to focus on the core of my studies more – public relations. Tomorrow I will discuss my project with Adrian, and spend the weekend researching what I prioritise and the most important thing! Now it’s written, I have to do it!
